Welcome, my name is Priya Gill (she/her) and I am a trauma focused Registered Clinical Counsellor (RCC) with the British Columbia Association for Clinical Counsellor (BCACC) and DEI Consultant. I have a BA in Criminology (hons.) from Simon Fraser University and Master of Counselling Psychology from Adler University, where I focused my studies on evidence based practices for trauma resolution and wellness.
As a trauma therapist, I center my work from a compassionate, non judgmental, multicultural ,anti-oppression and decolonizing philosophy. I also draw upon evidence based approaches grounded in the celebration of each individual’s unique capacity for healing. Some of these approaches include:
Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing Therapy (EMDR),
Internal Family Systems
Intersectional Anti Oppression Therapy
Emotion Focused Therapy
Compassionate Inquiry with Dr. Gabor Mate
Gottman: Couples and Family Therapy
And Mindfulness Body-based therapies
I believe the therapeutic space is sacred, and my job as a healer is to walk alongside you on your path to empowerment and healing. I work with individuals who are seeking a safe space to reclaim their voice, connect with their resilience, and empower themselves. Some come to me to explore their heritage and racial identity - unpacking racism, ancestry and inter generational trauma, systematic oppression and violence. Some need a safe space to process feelings of anger and rage. Others seek to process gender based violence, sexual violence, trauma, anxiety, depression, and/or substance use.
It is important to me to show up as an authentic human, not only as a therapist. I hope to share with you my sense of humour and lessons and wisdom I have been taught from my teachers, mentors, colleagues, research, education, clients, elders, and loved ones.
